New York to Consider Insurance Discount for Dash Camera Users

Great News Dash Camera Nation!

The New York State Assembly will be voting on a Bill to allow for an insurance premium discount for Dash Camera users.  According to proposed Bill #A10392 it "Provides for a 5% automobile insurance premium reduction for non-commercial passenger motor vehicles equipped with an operating dashboard camera."

This is great news for the automobile driving population in the US.  According the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles there are over 9 Million automobiles registered in NYS in 2015.  For those 9 million vehicles registered in the state of NY based on numbers crunched by valuepenguin.com the "average" insurance rate per vehicle in NYS is $1,173.  Taking those numbers into consideration, the total insurance savings for the "non-commercial" automobile public in New York State could reach $527,850,000 annually.  Since New York ranks fourth in automobile registration behind only; California, Texas and Florida our hope is that the passage of this legislation will set a precedent allowing other States to follow by passing similar legislation.
